Telegraph: Brazil prisoners reading books to shorten their sentences

There has to be a pun here with having to endure several sentences to shorten a sentence.  In four of Brazil's federal prisons, inmates can trim a maximum 48 days off their total sentence by reading up to 12 works of literature, philosophy, science or classics and writing an essay about what they read.

I assume there's a specific list of books to choose from.  I doubt Green Eggs and Ham will qualify.
